FAITID Board Members Participated in the 3rd InfoSpace Innovative Technologies Forum

March 27-28, Moscow hosted the 3rd InfoSpace Innovative Technologies Forum. The event was held by the initiative of the Interagency Working Group on the Innovative Improving of the Legislation at the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, as well as by the official support of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Education and Science, the State Duma, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian Academy of Sciences.  

Elvira Nabiullina, the Minister of Economic Development, Andrey Fursenko, the Minister of Education and Science, as well as the governors of the innovatively developed Russian regions and the leaders of public organizations welcomed the guests and participants of the Forum.

On the first day of the Forum Ekaterina Popova, Presidential Administration Chief’s Assistant, opened the plenary session. Her presentation was focused on the main innovation strategies in Russia. Many issues about the support of big infrastructure projects, the need for a domestic element base and development of imported technologies have been raised. The key issue was about the reduction of the state's role in the economy. «We need to understand that big corporations are the basis of developed countries, - said Popova. Macro-economic modelling and capabilities' analysis of the major industries are the basis for innovative development. In addition, it is necessary to solve legislation problems, in particular, problems of innovative enterprises' establishment, noted Popova.

March 28, on the second day of the event Alexander Panov, President of the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development and Dmitry Burkov, the Chairman of the FAITID Board, participated in the ICT's innovative development session.

The key speakers of the session became: Ilya Massuh, Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media (Topic: “Innovative Development of the ICT Sector), Dmitry Rutenberg, Head of Control and Supervision of Transport and Communication Administration, Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (Topic: “Competition as Motivation to the Innovative Development of ICT Industry”), Alexander Turkot, Executive Director of the Skolkovo Foundation (Topic: “Development Strategy of the Information Technologies Cluster in Skolkovo Foundation”), Sergey Zheleznyak, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Culture (Topic: “Legislation Support in the Development of ICT Sector), etc.

Alexander Panov spoke about the role of the Internet companies in the fight against illegal content on the Internet. He stressed that today the participation of the Internet market players is not regulated at the legislative level and it leads to the conflict of interests between law enforcement and business.

At his presentation Dmitry Burkov focused on this subject as well. He made an overview of the legislation's evolution aimed at regulating the intellectual property protection on the Internet.
