Chairman of the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development (FAITID) Dmitry Burkov participated in the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) that took place in Baku, November 6-9.

IGF is the world’s largest meeting where Internet governance issues, legal and social trends of the Internet development are discussed, prospects for the future are made and different ideas are shared. The event was attended by senior officials of the national ministries, the largest Internet companies and other organizations that have a significant influence on the Internet.

Dmitry Burkov took part in the session related to the current issues of combating the spread of illegal content. A number of legislative initiatives were discussed there, including the recently ratified Russian Federal Law #139-FZ on the Protection of Children from Information Harmful to Their Health and Development and technical measures to ensure the fulfilment of these initiatives as well.

Within the session Dmitry Burkov introduced the concept of blocking the illegal information in DNS that is recognized by many experts as the most safe one and with the low risk level for the rest of resources.

"It is extremely important for us to be able to discuss current problems of the Russian industry with international experts, learn from their experience and tell them about our own developments. This will certainly help to find the best solution of any problem more quickly," Dmitry Burkov commented on his participation in the meeting.

International IGF meetings are held annually in different cities around the world. The previous event took place in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
