"The Internet is One of the Key Elements of the Country's Infrastructure"

Dmitry Burkov, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development, has been interviewed by Konstantin Zatulin in his author's program Russian Question on TV Tsentr channel. During the sixty-sixth program issue they were discussing the dependency factor of Internet in modern Russia.

"The Internet is one of the key elements of the country's infrastructure, from my viewpoint," said Dmitry Burkov, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation, "one of the key and critical infrastructures of the country, which provides not only access to the information but also financial communications, e-business as such and many other additional features."

So it is quite natural, that the issues of integrity, stability and functioning of the Internet in Russia are discussed by the relevant national security authorities, including the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, Dmitry Burkov noted that sanctions against other countries have never been implemented earlier in terms of Internet infrastructure. According to him, it doesn’t serve the interests of the United States who will suffer heavy financial losses.
