FAITID Is a Host for GeoTLDs Meeting in Moscow
October 24, 2013 the group of applicants for geographic top level domains (GeoTLDs) will convene in Moscow for a meeting. The event will be attended by representatives of organizations implementing totally more than 30 TLDs for the cities and regions of the world as part of New gTLD program.
The Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development, coordinating the project for the .MOSCOW and .МОСКВА TLDs implementation, will act as a host of the event. A meeting will be organised by a leading Russian domain name registrar RU-CENTER. GeoTLDs session in Moscow will be held under official support of the Moscow Department of Information Technology. The opening ceremony to be held in the Moscow City Government building and will be attended by Artem Ermolaev, Government Ministry, Head of Information Technology Department.
During the meeting in Moscow the candidates for geographical domains are expected to discuss the progress of New gTLD program, in particular, consider the experience of communication with ICANN during the procedures that have to be passed before a new top-level domain is delegated to the root. Furthermore the attendants will exchange the ideas in the field of marketing of geographical domains, as well as preparation of techical infrastructure and set of documentation to be used for ensuring the stable operation of the implemented TLDs. Another focal point of the session will be granting status for GeoTLDs group to act as the official constituency within ICANN.
