Dmitry Burkov Was Re-Elected to the RIPE NCC Executive Board

Dmitry Burkov, Chairman of the FAITID Board, was re-elected for the third term to the Executive Board of the RIPE NCC.

The elections of the RIPE (Reseaux IP Europeens) NCC Executive Board were held at the RIPE 64 Meeting that took place in Ljubljana 16-20 April 2012. Dmitry Burkov got the majority of votes in the first round of the elections. Thus he will continue to be a RIPE NCC Executive Board Member for the next three years.

The RIPE NCC Executive Board membership is voluntary. Except everyday duties during his new term in the Board Dmitry Burkov plans to focus on enhancement of the RIPE NCC interaction with ICANN and other international organisations.

The RIPE NCC is one of the five Regional Internet Registiries coordinated by the ICANN Address Supporting Organization (ASO). The ASO is in charge of global allocation of IP addresses. The RIPE NCC serves Local Internet Registries (LIRs) in the EMEA region to guarantee correct distribution of Internet address resources. Local Internet Registries are usually Internet service providers (ISPs) that use the space allocated by RIPE NCC to develop their infrastructure and for clients' needs.
