Prague is hosting the 44th ICANN International Conference. The event is focused on 1930 applications submitted to ICANN at the first round of the New gTLD Program. On the first day of the conference Foundation for Assistance for Internet Technologies and Infrastructure Development applied for Moscow domains announced it plans to hold the City gTLDs Festival for all applicants for city domains (Berlin, London, Paris, Tokyo, Rome, etc.). The event should become a part of the Moscow City Day.

The idea was fully supported by the dotCities interest group that unites new gTLD applicants planning to implement domains for cities.

The goal of the festival is to present cultural and travel opportunities of cities of the world to the citizens of Moscow, as well as to show all the Internet users cities that will soon get their «virtual» brands – top-level domains.

The first announcement on the Moscow TLDs introduction was made on the Moscow City Day in 2010. A year later the Memorandum of Cooperation between FAITID and dotCities was concluded. This year similar documents with other applicants on city top-level domains are going to be signed.
