ICANN Plans to Approve First New gTLDs in April 2013
ICANN will announce the initial evaluation results for the first applications for new TLDs in March 2013, while the target date for the approval of the first new gTLDs' delegation is April 23.
ICANN has made great progress to start the delegation process for the new gTLDs, but there are some things the corporation cannot control that may cause the delegation date to slip, said ICANN President and CEO Fadi Chehadé. One of the main factors on the way of approval of new gTLDs is the position of the ICANN’s Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC). GAC is now working on its formal Advice on New gTLDs, which will play a significant role in whether the applications will be approved or rejected. GAC will have to submit its advice immediately after the ICANN Public Meeting in Beijing, which ends April 11, 2013, so that the new gTLDs could be approved for delegation on 23 April, the date mentioned by Fadi Chehadé.
ICANN decided not to extend the window for filing objections against applications, currently closing March 13, 2013.
FAITID submitted to ICANN applications for .МОСКВА and .MOSCOW TLDs that have 69 and 881 Draw prioritization numbers respectively.
